RIEL example demonstrates how to adapt to new market conditions – NV

May 09, 2025

Провідне українське суспільно-політичне Інтернет-видання NV розповіло як девелопер РІЕЛ змінюється сам та трансформує ринок нерухомості під час війни. Із повним текстом матеріалу можна ознайомитися за посиланням.

Leading Ukrainian Socio-Political Online Publication NV has reported on how developer RIEL is changing itself and transforming the real estate market during the war. The full text of the article is available at link.

“Over 22 years, the company has completed over 100 residential and commercial projects with a total area of over one million square metres. However, the last three years of full-scale war have been a real test,” NV reports. “As of today, RIEL has completed all of its projects in Kyiv that were started before 2022 and has maintained its position as the market leader in Lviv.”

“We have proven that a systematic developer does not stop even in the most difficult conditions,” emphasises RIEL CEO Rostyslav Melnyk.

In particular, the article states that the large-scale changes at RIEL primarily affected approaches to development, service, customer service philosophy, and visual identity.

“The time when people simply bought an apartment is over. Today, it is not about the home itself, but about the need to create a living space that truly resonates with the values and needs of modern Ukrainians. Now we are not just adapting to market demands, but shaping a new standard for the living environment,” Rostyslav Melnyk told the publication.

“We refuse to perceive people as mere customers. Everyone who chooses our projects is part of a community, a potential brand advocate and, first and foremost, a person with their own unique needs and values,” Rostyslav Melnyk notes in the article.

According to NV, the company’s brand renewal is accompanied by “the introduction of the RІEL Family Style concept, a new format within the comfort class, which involves the creation of residential complexes with an increased focus on the needs of different families.”

In particular, it is said that in developing the concept for the new housing, RIEL specialists focused on modern European approaches to healthy urbanism, in particular, “the Happy Planning philosophy — a model of a happy urban environment based on seven key principles. These include convenient access to nature and water, an active social life, and a favourable environment for communication and sports.”

“The first projects to embody the new concept will be the Brother and Sister Residential Complexes on the left bank of Kyiv and the Father Residential Complex in Lviv. These projects include infrastructure for families, green areas, shared leisure spaces and modern technological solutions.

In addition, several other conceptual projects are under development. These include Big Ben, a residential complex with gallery-style buildings similar to Scandinavian examples; Hyde Park, a club house with a 25-metre swimming pool; and the Harry project, which combines the renovation of historic façades with new architecture. All these initiatives are aimed at improving the quality of the urban environment.”

In our opinion, war changes everything, and development is no exception. However, RIEL’s example shows how companies can adapt to new conditions, rethink their role, take into account new human needs, and become a driving force for positive change in society.
