Supporting Ukrainian culture means creating more opportunities for people to engage with it, providing a platform for new projects and bringing people together.
For RIEL, this is one of the ways we support Ukrainian cultural initiatives. After all, the country’s future is shaped not only by rebuilding and developing its cities, but also by preserving its culture and supporting those who are creating it today.
This August, RIEL is supporting the documentary Kuzma: Frightfully Funny – a film about Andrii Kuzmenko, musician, frontman of the band Skriabin and one of the most recognisable figures in contemporary Ukrainian culture. The film will be shown at an exclusive open-air screening at the site of the future Big Ben Residential Development in Lviv.
‘Culture is the code of a nation. And particularly now, it is so important to give Ukrainian projects more opportunities to connect with their audiences. This is a continuation of RIEL’s cultural initiatives. Last year, together with composer Yevhen Khmara, we created Symphony of Construction – a musical video project combining creativity with the rhythm of a real construction site. We want our spaces to live and evolve alongside the city, becoming places where something more than everyday life happens. That is why, at the Big Ben Residential Development, we are creating a space where audiences can come together to experience Ukrainian cinema,’ comments Borys Tsomaia, Marketing Director at RIEL.
The film was produced by Ukrainian studio KNIFE! Films. Drawing on archival footage, the filmmakers explore Andrii Kuzmenko’s creative journey, his personal transformation, self-deprecating humour and character. The film will be released in Ukrainian cinemas on 13 August.

The location for the event was chosen deliberately. The Big Ben Residential Development is being created as a contemporary urban space where, alongside residential living, there is room for relaxation, socialising and community events. The development’s concept also includes an open-air cinema – a dedicated space for film screenings, gatherings and evenings spent together.
The screening will therefore be another event that opens up the Big Ben Residential Development to the city and its residents. For RIEL, this is an opportunity not only to support Ukrainian art, but also to create another place in Lviv where people can come together to experience contemporary Ukrainian culture.
