In modern realities, the availability of bomb shelter in a residential complex significantly increases the cost per square meter, which buyers are often not willing to pay. This was stated by Rostyslav Melnyk, CEO of RIEL Real Estate Corporation, in an interview with MC.Today. He explained that the new requirements for bomb shelters involve significant financial costs for autonomous sources of heat and electricity, sanitation, water supply, ventilation, reinforced structures and evacuation exits.
As an alternative, developers are increasingly choosing underground parking lots that can be used as shelters.
“That’s why construction companies have found an alternative – underground parking lots. They are designed with the idea that they will be used as shelters,” said Rostyslav Melnyk.
