RIEL REC: "How we overcame the consequences of rocket attack on our residential complex." Part one

August 16, 2022

Evacuation

War leaves painful wounds, imprinting them in our consciousness. Unfortunately, the history of RIEL REC will forever have its own terrible memories – on April 28 and June 26, 2022, when Russia showered missiles at Lvivskyi Kvartal residential complex in Kyiv.

From the first hours after the rocket attack by Russia on our housing complex, today we help the residents of Lvivskyi Kvartal RC in Kyiv. In a series of publications, we are going to tell about the path taken by the company and what we have done to restore the houses that were hit by enemy missiles.

On April 28, 2022, an enemy missile hit the house No. 7 of Lvivskyi Kvartal. On that terrible morning, there were more than 30 people in the building.

Many residents were evacuated to the street by our employees who were on the scene before the rescuers. The contractors' equipment, which was used for construction work, was used instead of the destroyed stairs to make a temporary transition, by which the residents were moved down and taken out of the building. Actually, before the arrival of the rescuers, most of the people were taken out of the house, and those who could not get out were taken out by first responders later on.

Medical workers treated the injured, and law enforcement officers worked at the facility. At the same time, the employees went on calling all the residents to find out where they were, whether they had left, or whether anyone was staying in the apartment.

Then it happened on June 26 - the arrival of a "high-precision missile" directly into the neighboring, third house of the same complex.

At the time of arrival, there were about 50 people there, all of them went out into the street, not properly dressed. Our team immediately set up a temporary accommodation for residents in the office of the service department (on the territory of the residential complex).

People stayed there for almost a day. Literally an hour after the missile dropped, the volunteers distributed water to the rescuers and helped the residents – they brought them breakfast and lunch. Next, the company's employees gathered people, compiled lists of who was staying in the building at the time of arrival and where they were then. The work was carried out the whole day through. The next day, we at the company already knew the location of all the residents during the attack on the house.

Part of the team was constantly in communication with representatives of the authorities. All the time, they discussed the need to include houses in the priority list for restoration, because they were already occupied and people needed housing.

However, the most terrible thing is those who were killed in both the first and second cases of rocket attacks. The lives that cannot be returned. We go out with our heartfelt condolences with their relatives and loved ones loss!
