Rostyslav Melnyk is the founder of RIEL and the Rostyslav Melnyk Charitable Foundation, a philanthropist, a member of the Presidium of the Ukrainian Tennis Federation, and a member of the Supervisory Board of the Ukrainian Tennis Club.
He was born on November 22, 1978, in the village of Krasne, Busk district, Lviv region. He received his higher education at Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University, majoring in General Medicine.
In 2001, he began his career in the construction sector, heading investment projects at the public organization “Karpaty,” which also funded the football club of the same name. Among his first large-scale projects was the construction of the Rixos hotel in Truskavets.
He also gained experience abroad — in the United Kingdom, where he worked in construction, starting from the toughest manual jobs and gaining a deep understanding of building culture. It was there he first encountered high standards of process organization and realized how crucial transparency, responsibility, and trust are in the real estate market.
Upon returning to Ukraine, he decided to transform approaches to development. In 2003, he founded RIEL, which went on to become one of Ukraine’s most dynamic developers.
Since 2013, RIEL has also operated in Kyiv’s real estate market. As of early 2025, the company’s portfolio includes more than 100 completed projects in Lviv and Kyiv, totaling over 1 million square meters.
In 2014, Rostyslav Melnyk established his eponymous charitable foundation. Its philanthropic work spans dozens of areas — from equipping the military to providing apartments, supporting orphanages, and promoting youth sports.
In 2015, he initiated the creation of a rehabilitation center — the first private facility in Ukraine of European standard for patients with brain and spinal cord injuries. The center also provides rehabilitation for military personnel.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, RIEL supported healthcare workers by supplying testing equipment and helped expand the Lviv Emergency Hospital, building a 130-bed ward for coronavirus patients in just two and a half weeks.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, developer RIEL and the charitable foundation led by Rostyslav Melnyk have provided systematic support to Ukraine’s Defense Forces. The company has supplied equipment, building materials, and gear, helped resettle internally displaced people, and contributed to strengthening the defenses of Kyiv and Lviv. It also assisted in upgrading the pedestrian checkpoint “Krakivets–Korczowa.”
The foundation has also participated in several large-scale initiatives that included apartment raffles by RIEL, with the proceeds directed to support the military.
Rostyslav Melnyk firmly believes that business must be not only responsible, but also humane — and he instills this philosophy at every level of RIEL’s operations.
